A PRESS RELEASE : March 7, 2000
The “Four Mothers” movement congratulates the
Government of Israel
for its brave decision to finally terminate the tragedy of the War in Lebanon
and withdraw from there.
Today we see the light at the end of the tunnel, a light
which cannot be denied by the darkness of stagnation in the peace process.
For us, it is the closing of a circle, which began
with the call of a few individuals in the North and which has engulfed many
others.
That same cry, which was defamed and rejected, has now
become a decision of the government.
We hope that we may finally depend once more upon the
government to do what it should do in any case, that is, to terminate the war.
It is clear to all of us that it is not possible to
backtrack from such a decision.
The government shall have to find the ways and means to
implement its decision and avoid the bloodshed that has become so familiar in
the Lebanese arena.
Let each one of us return to his home and loved ones.
